This page explains how to delete your account in Taareef, the recommendations app by [company name, to be published], and what happens to your data. You can delete your account at any time.
1. In the app
Draft, pending legal reviewOpen Taareef, go to Settings, then Delete account, and confirm with the code we send to your number.
- Open Taareef and go to Settings, then Delete account.
- Confirm with the code we send to your phone number. This makes sure only you can delete your account.
- Your account is scheduled for deletion. The app shows the date it will be deleted, 30 days later.
During those 30 days your profile is hidden, you are signed out everywhere, and you stop getting notifications.
2. Without the app
Draft, pending legal reviewDeleting on this website with a phone code is coming soon. Until then, email us from anywhere.
Soon you'll be able to delete your account on this page: you will enter your phone number, confirm it with a code, and follow the same steps as in the app.
Until then, or if you can no longer receive codes on your number, email privacy@taareef.in with the phone number on your account. We reply within 48 hours and confirm the request is yours, by sending a code to that number when it can still receive one, before we schedule the deletion.
3. What we delete
Draft, pending legal reviewYour profile, your number, what you sent, and everything linked to your account.
- Your account, phone number, name, photo and email.
- The voice notes, transcripts and notes you sent. In your friends' Inboxes, those recommendations remain only as the title of what you recommended, marked as from a deleted account.
- Your replies, your contacts matches, your blocks, settings and devices.
- Your sign-in with our sign-in provider.
Everything is erased within 30 days of your request, and removed from our backups within a further 7 days.
4. What we keep
Draft, pending legal reviewOnly what the law or safety requires, without your name or number.
- Reports about abuse and the evidence attached to them, for as long as the law requires.
- Security logs for one year, with your identity replaced by a code.
- A one-way code of your account, so a deleted account can't be confused with a new one.
5. Changing your mind
Draft, pending legal reviewSign in again within 30 days and choose "Restore my account".
If you sign in during the 30 days, the app asks whether to keep the deletion or restore your account. Keeping the deletion is the default, so signing in by habit never cancels it. To restore your account, choose Restore my account and confirm with a fresh code.
